Mixed Leopard Results…

October 27th, 2007 Administrator

So I upgraded my Mac today and so far I’m really enjoying it. There are quite a few features that I haven’t discovered and the ones that I have discovered I’m still trying to learn. I can definitely say that I feel lucky in the sense that I wasn’t one of the people that had issues with the installing / upgrade. I’ve read a lot over the past day about people that have had to wait numerous hours for their Mac to boot up following the installation. Mine took a few minutes more than it usually does but I generally come to expect that with pretty much any software upgrade. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my experience with Leopard.

If you know me, then you know that I’m a huge Mac fan at heart and wouldn’t trade one for anything. Well, there’s some good news for myself and many of the other Mac users out there. Apple has announced that the newest version of their operating system will be released on the 26th of October, 2007. The new OS will go by the name of “Leopard” and will come with scores of new features that will more than likely blow your mind. Be sure to check out the Apple website for information on all the awesome features Leopard’s going to be packed with.

iPhones Soon To Be iBricks…

September 25th, 2007 Administrator

As usual, the rumor mill has initiated some information that brings up the concept of a possible iPhone software update that could brick iPhones that have been unlocked. Well, the rumor mill has turned out too be right. Apple recently confirmed that an upcoming software release will have a high likelihood of “bricking” the phone. I kind of expected this to happen very shortly after the unlocking methods were released.

I don’t personally have an iPhone, but if I did have one and it was unlocked, I would worry very little. The hackers of the world always find a way around something and I doubt this will be an exception. I won’t doubt that within a day or two of the software release, someone will have cracked it to continue allowing the software to be unlocked.

Owned! By a $4,800 iPhone Bill…

September 10th, 2007 Administrator

An iPhone user received a $4,800 bill from AT&T as a result of their iPhone’s connecting with foreign phone charges from the user being on a cruise. I guess when you have three iPhones following these same specifications, you’re gonna get a large bill in the mail. In total, the bill was 54 pages long. Thanks for trying to save the planet AT&T. Way to go.

Hacked iPhones Trades For Made Prizes…

August 29th, 2007 Administrator

So the iPhone’s been out for only a short while but has been getting loads of attention ever since its release. A 17-year-old lad by the name of George Hotz from Glen Rock, NJ has traded in his hacked iPhone for a Nissan 350Z and three (yes, three) 8GB iPhones. Considering the trade off, I’d have to say that this guy made out pretty well. The number of iPhones he owns went up by 300% and he got a bonus of a brand new car.

Had I been able to pull of doing this same thing, the time would have been well worth it to get such prizes in return. Maybe some day I’ll be lucky enough to at least get an iPhone. Keep your fingers crossed.

Safari 3 Beta Update…

June 14th, 2007 Administrator

Good news folks…the newest beta for the Windows version of Safari 3 is available and fixes some bugs that were present in the application. I’m gonna be honest here. I had no idea a Windows version of Safari even existed. So for me, this is huge news.

Apple has released an update to the Windows Safari 3 Beta. According to Macworld the updates ‘…include correction for a command injection vulnerability, corrected with additional processing and validation of URLs that could otherwise lead to an unexpected termination of the browser; an out-of-bounds memory read issue; and a race condition that can allow cross-site scripting using a JavaSscript [sic] exploit.’ It is available through either the Apple Safari download site or through Apple’s Software Update.

New information has formed about the updated MacBook Pro laptops. They’ve received some very nice and relatively hefty upgrades. But what’s really nice is the mercury-free displays that come with some of the laptops. It’s nice to see that Apple’s going the environmentally friendly way. Check out the full article at Tech News World.

From the article:

TechNewsWorld is reporting that Apple has updated the MacBook Pro line with the Santa Rosa chipset from Intel. In addition, Apple is also introducing mercury-free displays with some models. ‘When Apple presented new editions of its MacBook line last month, the company excluded the latest Intel Centrino chips, dubbed “Santa Rosa,” which had been released just days prior. The chips have found their way into Apple’s new high-end MacBook Pro notebooks, which the company revealed Tuesday. Certain models use mercury-free displays, falling in line with the company’s recent ecological promises.’
