So the day finally came and I popped the question and I managed to pull it off completely by surprise. Thursday night, Katie and I went to Mitchell’s Steakhouse - a real high quality place for steak - after me tricking her in to thinking that I got a gift card for the place that would make the price cheaper.
Regarding the food at Mitchell’s, it was awesome. I had a 14 oz. NY strip with a jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon on top and a mushroom cap stuffed with goat cheese, ham, and a few other items that I can’t remember off the top of my head. Katie had an 8 oz. filet mignon. Between the two of us, we split some of their garlic mashed potatoes. Oh, and for an appetizer we had smoked salmon. For dessert we had the Drunken Turtle Cake which consisted of three layers. The bottom layer was like pecan pie, the middle layer was a Bourbon mouse, and the top layer was a chocolate ganiche. On top was a small piece of golf leaf.
But before dessert came, I went to the bathroom and the waiter asked me how things were going. At that point I didn’t know that the waitor knew about what was going on and I think that was him trying to find out if I was going to have him put the ring on dessert or something. So I came back and dessert came and I got bombarded with questions because she was expecting the dessert thing to happen.
So after some trickery I took a knee as they say and got to work. I’m sure you all know what the answer was, but if not, I’ll leave it a mystery.

The new Anthony Hopkins movie rocked it hard. katie and I went to see it tonight after going to dinner with her family. The movie turned out to be everything I expected. If you haven’t heard of it or seen the previews for “Fracture”, the story revolves around a man who murders his wife and some of the other characters go around trying to prove him guilty with the lack of evidence available.

This weekend, Katie, myself, and a few friends went to a casino by the name of Argosy. Since travelling to Las Vegas would be quite a bit more in price, we opted to take a weekend trip to the Argosy casino. Katie managed to do very will by playing some roulette though I (and the others) didn’t do so well. But I guess that’s because I just stuck to the slots instead of spreading the cash around. If you’ve never been, it’s an awesome place. Instead of being inside of a building, the casino is located on a huge river boat. Check it out if you’re looking for some local gambling.

Last Friday, Katie and myself took a cooking class at a place called Sur La Table. The class was my Valentine’s Day present since I’ve really gotten into learning how to cook as of late. So, directly after I got off of work we drove immediately to the Easton Town Center where Sur La Table is located.
After arriving we signed in, slapped on our name tags, and listened to Marty’s introduction to the class and himself. Once his introduction was complete we put on our cooking aprons, washed our hands, and picked a station to work at. We had the option of one of the two pizza stations or the calzone station. Katie, myself, and a big majority of the class chose the calzone station. If you’ve ever had a good calzone, you know why everyone went for it.
As a member of the calzone station, Katie and I started pulling the leaves off the parsley stems and chopping them up. After much chopping and mixing and such, we eventually had a very tasty calzone.
If you’re in to cooking or want to advance your skills, you might want to check out Sur La Table’s courses; they offer classes of many different styles of food.

Yesterday was St. Patrick’s Day, so I propositioned Katie to go out to the Old Bag of Nails pub in Grandview and she agreed it would be a kewl place to go to take part in the festivities. We invited Ashley to go along to get in on the fun. Katie and I split the Fish and Chip dinner and Ashley also got the same thing. Their Fish and Chip dish is divine.
Afterwards we went to a bar called O’Malleys (not sure on the spelling) with Jason, Devon, Ashley’s friend, Justin, and Russ. It was a great time. The drinks were relatively low price but awesome in quality. If you haven’t been I definitely suggest it.

Katie and I attempted to go see Zodiak today but because of an issue with the projector we went to see 300. The movie was pretty good. It’s exactly what you expect it to be: a bunch of really well built guys fighting. There was the occasionally funny comment here and there. If you’ve seen the preview and think it looks interesting, I say you should go check it out.

So Katie and I went out to dinner to Brio today for Valentine’s Day. The food was really good. I had the salmon dish and she had the “surf & turf” dish. The mashed potatoes that came with hers were divine. To finish it off we had this chocolate cake thing that rocked harder than Fred Flintstone.

Katie and I finally made it back to Kikyo for sushi. Haven’t been there for a good month or so. I got my usual plus a California Roll. It was a bit pricey but hey, it was good. And I think we’ve both decided that we’re only going to go every once in a while. We used to go at least once a week. Regardless, Kikyo still rocks it hard.

Katie and I and her family went to Dave and Busters for some birthday party action. If you know Dave and Busters you know it’s a big arcade place too. I generally don’t get in the habit of playing DDR style games in public but Bradley was playing so I figured I’d join in. It wasn’t horrible but geez I broke a sweat playing that game. I didn’t expect that I would sweat so hard since I work out and have actually lost weight but I guess I’m just not used to the type of exercise that it provides.

Katie and I went out to Buca Di Beppos last night for dinner and it was even better than I remember. When our name was called we were taken to our seat but instead of going the standard way, we went through the kitchen - which has a table in it for people to sit at - and took a very guided tour of the place. Our waiter Mo was super nice and very helpful.
For start off the dinner we got the 1893 salad and some garlic bread with cheese. Dinner was a dish that had four different items from the menu. It was something of a sampler. We got the double dark chocolate cake for dessert but got it to go since we were pretty stuffed from the rest of the food.
