Steve Ballmer Is At It Again, Threatening Linux Patents…

In Steve Ballmer’s usual style, he busted the chops of the open-source community at a New York analysts presentation where he stated:
“Steve Ballmer has reissued Microsoft’s patent threat against Linux, warning open-source vendors that they must respect his company’s intellectual property. In a no-nonsense presentation to New York financial analysts last week, Microsoft’s chief executive said the company’s partnership with Novell, which it signed in November 2006, “demonstrated clearly the value of intellectual property, even in the open-source world.”

At least he wasn’t throwing chairs this time. Geez. Read the rest of the story about Ballmer on ZDNet’s site.

Vista and Office For Free…

November 29th, 2006 Administrator

Microsoft is currently running a promotion at http://powertogether.com/ to get a free full license of the new Windows Vista and 2007 edition of Microsoft Office. There’s a small catch but nothing too crazy. With the Windows Vista offer you have to complete three Webcasts, give them a little information, and then, if you quality, you will receive the software in 6 to 8 weeks. To get Microsoft Office 2007 you will need to complete three Webcasts or vLabs and if you qualify then you get the software in 6 to 8 weeks. I’m tempted to try it out but if I didn’t get the software I’d be a rather unhappy camper. Good luck to anyone that gives it a go.
