Guitar Hero III…

November 5th, 2007 Administrator

So I held out for about a week before buckling and actually buying Guitar Hero III. Everybody knew that it was coming at some point. I kind of surprised myself as I generally pick up a copy immediately after it comes out. At any rate, I’ve played it and have to say it’s looking pretty awesome thus far. I like the concept of having to fight a boss. While a boss is a common concept with with video games, a boss in Guitar Hero doesn’t immediately come to mind in terms of gameplay. But the way that the company designed it was probably the best, if not the only, way to implement a boss concept.

New Guitar Hero This Summer…

May 10th, 2007 Administrator

A press release on the Activision website has announced that a new Guitar Hero will be released and filled with 80’s related songs. The title given within the press release is Guitar Hero: Rocks the 80s so I don’t think there will be any confusion on what will be included in terms of the songs. There will be 30 songs included on the game. Songs listed by Activision in the press release are:

  • I Wanna Rock (by Twisted Sister)
  • I Ran (by Flock of Seagulls)
  • Round and Round (as made famous by Ratt)
  • I Want Candy (as made famous by Bow Wow Wow)
  • Metal Health (as made famous by Quiet Riot)
  • Holy Diver (as made famous by Dio)
  • Heat Of The Moment (as made famous by Asia)

None of the songs really get me going but maybe that’ll change once the game actually comes out.

The Wii’s Virtual Console…

April 11th, 2007 Administrator

So, I’ve had some points laying around on the Virtual Console system that the Wii has. Today I finally used the rest of my points to pick up a new game. I went with a game that I used to play the hell out of. This game was the Contra III title. The first Contra was definitely a classic, but Contra III was also a really nice game in my eyes. If you haven’t played it, I would suggest giving it a play. It’s well worth the 800 Wii Points that you’re charged for it.

Super Paper Mario Is Here…

April 10th, 2007 Administrator

When I got a chance to play Paper Mario for the Nintendo 64, I loved it. Even though I only played an hour or two of the game, I become quite hooked. After moving out of a friends house I no longer had access to the game. Today, Super Paper Mario for the Nintendo Wii came out and it’s even better than the original. I’ve probably played it for about an hour or so but holy crap it’s awesome. If you’ve got a Wii and want to invest in a new game, this is the one. It beats any other game I’ve played for the Wii so far.

Super Paper Mario For the Wii…

February 21st, 2007 Administrator

I’ve been ever so excited about Super Paper Mario coming out for the Wii and now, Go Nintendo has a ton of screen shots from Super Paper Mario on their website. My favorite screenshot’s the one with Koopa in what looks like an updated version of the second area in the first level of Super Mario Brothers. I can’t wait. I’ll have to get my pre-order in early on this game.

Cooking Mama: Cook Off Pre-Order…

February 4th, 2007 Administrator

Today while I was running around I decided to pay off the pre-order for Wii Play and put in a pre-order requested for Cooking Mama: Cook Off. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a game that it similar to WarioWare in terms of its interaction with items on the screen but it revolves around cooking. For example you can shred things, chop vegetables, cut meat, and a whole list of other things. It might sound lame to some but I’m pretty sure it’s going to rock hard. The only down side to it is that it won’t release until March 27 so there’s a good two months until we can expect it. Oh well, it gives me time to save up the cash for it.

Semi-DDR At Dave and Busters

January 29th, 2007 Administrator

Katie and I and her family went to Dave and Busters for some birthday party action. If you know Dave and Busters you know it’s a big arcade place too. I generally don’t get in the habit of playing DDR style games in public but Bradley was playing so I figured I’d join in. It wasn’t horrible but geez I broke a sweat playing that game. I didn’t expect that I would sweat so hard since I work out and have actually lost weight but I guess I’m just not used to the type of exercise that it provides.

Rayman Raving Rabbids…

January 25th, 2007 Administrator

I got my birthday present yesterday - Rayman Raving Rabbids - and like many of the other Wii games that I have, I love it. It reminds me a lot of WarioWare: Smooth Moves because a lot of the mini-games in it have very random concepts to them. I want to thank Jason and everyone else that threw in on the gift. It’s highly appreciated.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves

January 17th, 2007 Administrator

Ware Ware: Smooth Moves came out for the Wii on January 15, 2007. Yesterday during my lunch break I picked up my reserved copy at EB Games. I only got to play for a short period of time since the batteries that came with the Wii died but it’s great fun so far. My rechargeable batteries were getting charged last night so let’s hope they’ve got enough juice to last a while.

Guitar Hero: 80’s Edition

January 13th, 2007 Administrator

It was announced the other day that Red Octane is working on an 80’s Edition of Guitar Hero that they expect to come out in the Spring. I have no idea what songs will be included on this version but I can only expect good things. I love 80’s music. I love Guitar Hero. I don’t know what’s not going to be good for this.
